Overview
At live concerts, musicians thrive on crowd engagement, which fuels their performance. Yet, some audience members feel too self-conscious to engage with the music, creating a disconnect between musicians and those who appear disengaged, reducing their motivation to perform. We came up with the question, "How might we improve the collective effervescence in a live concert by aiding musicians in engaging the audience as a collective?"
Approach
"Insync," an interactive visual system, bridges this gap by aiding musicians in engaging the audience as a whole. Using a Kinect to track audience gestures, it enhances traditional concert gestures like clapping and waving with interactive visuals that provide visual feedback, encouraging audience participation. As more people interact, the visuals intensify, motivating a larger audience to join in and fostering a deeper bond between the musician and the audience.
